I do not declare anyone pure before Allah, but I count them with Allah, God willing, as martyrs. My beloved, my soul, my brother, the kind, calm engineer close to the heart, Salam Abdul Jabbar al-Haj “Abu Mu’min” — Salam A. Al Haj — was martyred, along with his wife, my dear maternal cousin Nasreen Adel al-Mabhouh, and their beautiful four-year-old daughter Zeina. They left us Mu’min. My friend, paternal cousin, and dear brother’s wife, Fairouz Abdul Malik al-Haj “Umm Omar” — Fairouz Haj — was also martyred. She had a pure heart; she was morality walking on earth, an architect whose competence everyone testified to. She took with her: my beloved Fatima “Fattoum,” 15 years old, my beloved Aisha “Ayousha,” 12 years old, my beloved and soul of my heart, the mischievous Muhammad “Hammoud,” 10 years old, who completed his tenth year on the morning of his martyrdom, and my beloved Khadija “Khadooj,” three and a half years old. They left us Omar.
